EUSS Advice and Support in London
Since December, our advice service has supported over 60 individuals with advice related to the EU Settlement Scheme. Most inquiries centered on upgrading from pre-settled to settled status, eVisas and permitted absences for pre-settled status holders.
Through our partners we received a few inquiries from vulnerable users, often facing challenges such as unemployment, homelessness and other complex issues. We have observed an increase in the complexity of incoming cases and we remain committed to supporting those in need, including the elderly, children and individuals with limited literacy or English skills.
Outreach
We have maintained our drop-in sessions in collaboration with our community partners across London. Notably, we continue our regular sessions with Latin American House, as well as our monthly drop-ins at Barking Learning Centre and in Edmonton, both facilitated in collaboration with Shpresa.
At our last drop-in session with Latin American House we provided direct advice to seven individuals from a Latin-American background, supported by an interpreter from our community partner! At this session, many voiced concern about upgrading from pre-settled to settled status – evidently, this will remain a top inquiry from users for the foreseeable future.
Since January, outreach has been slow due to a lack of events in the sector and slow pace of activity at the start of the year. However, in the meantime, we have focused on handling EUSS-related referrals through our advice service.
For EUSS inquiries, you can email us at help@neweuropeans.uk. If you are an organisation wishing to refer someone to our advice service, you can do so by filling out this form.
