EUSS Advice and Support in London
In June 2024, our advice service received 27 incoming referrals from London residents.
The most common issues being late applications [find out more on our Resource hub] and upgrading from Pre-settled status to Settled status [find out more on our Resource hub].
Generally, most queries were regarding late applications for children and elderly people residing in the UK for long periods of time, as well as applications for Non-EEA family members.
Many other queries involve information on how to access their status online, how to update their details and how to manage their status. All enquiries receive personalised information from us, as well as our resources which outline step-by-step how to access/ manage/ update a status online.
If you have any question about your Settled or Pre-Settled status send us a WhatsApp message on +44 7367 095 176
We are open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm (excluding Bank Holidays).
Have a look at our Resource hub for information in all aspects of the EU Settlement Scheme, versions in English and community languages available.
Outreach
On June 27th, for Refugee Week, we were at the ‘Rough Sleepers & Asylum Seekers Wellbeing Event’ at Barking Learning Centre.
We spoke to local residents about the EU Settlement Scheme, and helped many understand the importance of having a status and being able to access it. Feedback we received was that the language barrier has been a significant barrier to many, and our resources in community languages were a great help!
We received lots of positive feedback from people as they could finally have access to, and understand information on the EU Settlement Scheme.
Community Events
In June we spoke at the Forum for Equalities and Human Rights in Southwark, coordinated by Citizens Advice Southwark focusing on the need for continued awareness of the EU Settlement Scheme, particularly the barriers and challenges for vulnerable EU citizens and their family members.
We also spoke to the Supporting Migrants Network, coordinated by the BD Collective around the EU Settlement Scheme and the need for support and advice to vulnerable people.
In July, we attended Migrant Help’s ‘Building Bridges Conference 2024’. Here we heard stories, interacted and connected with other like-minded individuals and organisations in the sector.
