Brontë Aurell, named an “Exceptional Londoner” by City Hall was among Danes unable to vote

As millions of EU citizens living in the UK voted in the European Parliament elections, it was not just Britons who were no longer able to vote in these elections after Brexit. Here we take a look at Denmark, which is one of five member states which do not allow the vast majority of its citizens to vote from outside the EU in European Parliament elections. The other member states which disenfranchise their citizens in EU elections are Bulgaria, Ireland, Cyprus, and Malta. Other countries such as Italy make it difficult for its citizens to vote, as although Italians are eligible to vote, they would have to travel back to Italy to cast their vote.
