We are shocked and saddened by the news that Sir David Amess MP has been killed.
David Amess died while doing his job, representing all his constituents without fear or favour.
This is a time for all in our communities to come together for the common good and to remember that what we have in common is far more important than what divides us.
Communications Advisor for New Europeans UK, Else Kvist, met Sir David Amess MP, back in 2012, when as a reporter for the Newham Recorder, she went to interview his late mother Maud Amess for her 100th Birthday.
Else said: “Sir David came across as gentle, kind and good humoured, as he came to support his mum in doing her interview with her local paper.
“I recall him helpfully prompting Maud to tell me about her time as a land girl with the Women’s Land Army after her family were evacuated to Essex during the Second World War.”
Our thoughts are with his family and friends and with all who knew and worked with David over his decades long service to parliament.
