Michaela Benson, Professor of Public Sociology at Lancaster University, has given a presentation to MPs and government representatives on the challenges Britons in Europe continue to face after Brexit.

Prof Benson, who has expertise in migration, citizenship and migration, is Co-Lead of the ESRC-funded project Rebordering Britain and Britain after Brexit. Her presentation was followed by testimonies from Debbie Williams MBE, founder of Brexpats – Hear Our Voice, and Clarissa Killwick, who deals with media relations for Brexpats – Hear Our Voice, and who is also co-founder of Beyond Brexit – UK citizens in Italy.
The APPG on Citizens’ Rights was set up in 2021 in order to provide a platform in parliament for raising the concerns of EU citizens in the UK and Britons abroad with Members of Parliament.
The officers of the APPG are Sir Peter Bottomley MP, Baroness Smith of Newnham, Andy Slaughter MP, Stuart McDonald MP and Caroline Lucas MP. New Europeans UK acts as the Secretariat.
